“This isn’t like what we see on the Carrier. This is an alien place I saw on TV, somewhere we stopped going before I could read.
Why did we stop coming to something as beautiful as this?”
I’ve read a lot of books about space travel and the Apollo program in particular and one thing that always hits me, reading interviews with men who have been there, is the astonishing beauty of the Moon. Especially the colors, it’s not the barren grey landscape we see in pictures, when they would look at the dust and rocks there were vibrant reds and greens and golds that we cannot see.
I can understand our reasoning for not going back to the Moon, but cannot understand any reasoning for not going further into space at all.

”You people came looking for a mystery. But there is none.” Planetary #3. art by John Cassaday.
This is one of my favorite Planetary issues. Only Warren Ellis could come up with something like a ghost cop in Hong Kong who takes revenge on those who betrayed him.
